10/02/2023

Adding and managing user groups in CS-Cart allows you to categorize your customers based on various criteria, and assign specific privileges or discounts to each group. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

1. Log in to Your Admin Panel:

  • Open your web browser and go to the CS-Cart admin panel by entering the URL followed by "/admin.php" (e.g., http://yourdomain.com/admin.php). Log in with your administrator credentials.

2. Navigate to Users:

  • In the admin panel, locate the "Users" section in the left-hand menu and click on it.

3. Access User Groups:

  • Click on the "User groups" sub-menu under the "Users" section.

4. Add a New User Group:

  • Click on the "+ Add user group" button.
  • Fill in the details for the user group:
    • Group Name: Enter a descriptive name for the group (e.g., "Wholesale Customers").
    • Parent group: Select a parent group if this group should be a sub-group of another.
    • Discount: Set a default discount that will be applied to products for users in this group.
    • Taxes: Choose the tax class that applies to this group.

5. Configure Permissions and Access Levels (Optional):

  • In the "Access" tab, you can configure permissions for different areas of the admin panel. This can be useful for controlling what actions users in this group can perform.

6. Assign Users to User Groups:

  • After creating user groups, you can assign users to them. Go back to the "Users" section, find a user, and edit their profile. In the "User groups" tab, select the appropriate group(s) for the user.

7. Apply Discounts (Optional):

  • In the "User groups" settings, you can set group-specific discounts which will be applied to products for users in that group.

8. Save Your Changes:

  • After setting up the user groups, be sure to click on the "Save" or "Save Changes" button to apply the settings.

9. Test User Group Functionality:

  • Test the functionality by logging in as a user assigned to a specific group and verifying that the privileges and discounts are applied as expected.

10. Monitor and Adjust User Groups:

  • Regularly review and adjust user groups as needed to accommodate changes in your business model or customer base.

Remember to refer to CS-Cart's official documentation or community forums for any version-specific instructions or additional options available in your specific version. Additionally, be cautious when assigning permissions and discounts to user groups, as these settings can have a significant impact on your store's operation.
