How to Manage Product Inventory

10/02/2023

Managing product inventory in CS-Cart allows you to keep track of the stock levels for each of your products. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

1. Log in to Your Admin Panel:

  • Open your web browser and go to the CS-Cart admin panel by entering the URL followed by "/admin.php" (e.g., http://yourdomain.com/admin.php). Log in with your administrator credentials.

2. Navigate to Products:

  • In the admin panel, locate the "Products" section in the left-hand menu and click on it.

3. Add or Edit a Product:

  • To add a new product, click on the "+ Add product" button. To edit an existing product, locate it in the list and click on the "Edit" icon (pencil icon).

4. Manage Inventory:

  • In the product details page, locate the "Inventory" section.
  • Here, you can set the following inventory-related details:
    • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): Assign a unique identifier for the product.
    • Amount: Enter the initial quantity of the product in stock.
    • Low Stock Notification: Specify a threshold for low stock notifications. When the stock falls below this number, you'll receive a notification.
    • Track Inventory: Choose whether to track inventory for this product or not. If selected, CS-Cart will keep track of stock levels.
    • Out of Stock Status: Set the status that will be displayed when the product is out of stock.

5. Manage Product Variations (Optional):

  • If your product has variations (e.g., different colors or sizes), you can set inventory levels for each variation by clicking on the "Variations" tab.

6. Update Inventory Levels:

  • If you need to update the stock levels at any point, you can do so by editing the product and adjusting the "Amount" field in the "Inventory" section.

7. Receive Low Stock Notifications (Optional):

  • If you've set a low stock notification threshold, you'll receive notifications when the stock falls below that level. This can be configured in your CS-Cart settings.

8. Save Your Changes:

  • After managing the inventory, be sure to click on the "Save" or "Save Changes" button to apply the settings.

9. Monitor Inventory Levels:

  • Regularly monitor your inventory levels to ensure that you have enough stock to meet customer demands. Restock products as needed.

10. Test in Storefront:

  • Go to your storefront to verify that the inventory levels are displayed correctly.

Remember to review your storefront after making any changes to ensure that the inventory levels are displayed as intended. Additionally, refer to CS-Cart's official documentation or community forums for any version-specific instructions or additional options available in your specific version.
